Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about RenameFlow

Is RenameFlow safe? Are my files uploaded?
Yes, completely. RenameFlow uses the File System Access API to rename files directly on your computer. Your files never leave your device — no upload, no cloud storage, no server-side processing.
    Which browsers are supported?
RenameFlow works on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge (desktop). Firefox and Safari don't support the File System Access API yet. Mobile browsers are not supported.
    Is RenameFlow free?
Yes! The free plan lets you rename up to 15 files per day. For unlimited renaming, subtitle downloads and custom patterns, Pro costs €9.99 per year or €2.99 per month, or €69 once for lifetime access.
    What media types are supported?
Movies, TV shows, anime, and music. We search TMDB, TheTVDB, and MusicBrainz to find accurate metadata for your files.
How is RenameFlow different from FileBot?
RenameFlow is web-based — no installation needed. It runs entirely in your browser, is free to start, and respects your privacy by never uploading files. FileBot is a desktop application: after a free evaluation, it costs US$8 for a 1-year license or US$80 for a lifetime license (filebot.net prices, checked on 26 September 2026).
Can I customize the naming pattern?
Yes! Pro users can create custom naming patterns with variables like {title}, {year}, {season}, {episode}, {quality}, and more. You can also save patterns for reuse.
Does RenameFlow work with Plex, Kodi, and Jellyfin?
Absolutely. RenameFlow follows the standard naming conventions expected by Plex, Kodi, Jellyfin, and Emby. Your renamed files will be perfectly recognized by these media servers.
    Can I rename subtitles too?
Yes! RenameFlow can match and rename subtitle files (.srt, .ass, .sub) alongside your media files. Pro users can also search and download subtitles from OpenSubtitles.
    Is there a file limit?
Free users can rename up to 15 files per day. Pro users have unlimited renaming with no daily cap.
    Does it work on Mac/Linux?
Yes! Since RenameFlow runs in the browser, it works on any operating system — Windows, macOS, and Linux — as long as you use Chrome or Edge.
    Can I undo a rename?
Yes. Right after a batch, click “Undo” in the notification (for 60 seconds), or use “Undo this batch” in History as long as the tab stays open: your files get their original names back. RenameFlow also keeps a history of every rename, so you can always see the original names.
    How does batch renaming work?
Select a folder with your media files, and RenameFlow will analyze all files at once. It detects the series/movie, matches episodes, and lets you preview all changes before applying them.
